About Us

''We are a passionate, professional and driven safari company that specializes in taking guests on immersive trips into the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Our aim is to provide a holistic experience, leaving our guests with a better understanding of the natural world.''

Gaia Safaris was founded by Joana and Emilio, who have not only been together for several years but have also spent a significant part of their careers in the safari industry. Their partnership in creating Gaia Safaris came naturally from their shared passion for Africa's wild spaces. They put their hearts into it with boundless enthusiasm.

Joana is a French citizen originally from Guadeloupe. She has always had a profound connection with nature and travel. After spending a few years working in a communication agency in Paris, she embarked on a one-year road trip through South America. After this travel, she went on to discover the magic of Africa and fall deeply in love with it.

She obtained Safari and Trails guide qualifications through the Field Guides Association of South Africa. She then made South Africa her home with a determination to explore every corner that this diverse country has to offer.

Emilio, originally from Durban, South Africa, has had a lifelong passion for biodiversity. His knowledge of the natural world has been cultivated through years of education and hands-on experience. He is a professional Safari and Trails guide, with several years of expertise in the safari industry.

For Emilio, his profession is also his passion.

He is knowledgeable on a wide range of topics, from animal behavior, birding, botany, geology, to astronomy among others, and loves sharing immersive experiences with others.

Our services include guided safari tours in French and English, booking of accommodation and transfer arrangements, as well as personalised itineraries.

Hosted by Emilio and Joana, who have become specialists in the region after driving the nearly 3500 kilometers (2175 miles) of Kruger National Park's roads, some many times over, you are in the best hands.

We ensure that every aspect of your safari experience is meticulously planned and executed to exceed your expectations.

During the safaris, you will very likely be in the best position to take great photographs. We are passionate wildlife photographers and our understanding of animal behaviour and photography is likely to produce magic for those who enjoy photography as much as we do.

As part of our longer packages, we offer a 3 night wilderness trail in the heart of the Kruger National Park. You will have the privilege to participate in a unique experience on foot (walking an average of 15km a day) while staying in a rustic camp which accommodates a maximum of 8 people.

We also offer our services to those who would like to extend their stay in South Africa outside the Kruger National Park, with the complete organisation of your road trips. Thanks to our knowledge of the country, we tailor the entire itinerary for you. As soon as it is validated by you, we take care of booking your accommodation, activities and rental car. This service allows our travellers to explore South Africa's stunning landscapes and rich culture without the hassle of planning and booking everything themselves.
